Industry Gases

C2H2

Acetylene

Acetylene (C2H2) provides a precise carbon source for low pressure carburizing processes. Its purity and transport solvent is important in delivering tightly controlled carburizing in a reliable fashion!

Ar

Argon

Argon (Ar) is used in combination with other welding gases to manufacture auto components such as exhaust systems, suspensions, seats and axles. Argon is an ideal gas for this application because of its ability to provide the necessary atmosphere needed to produce adequate welds with any material. Argon is also commonly used in airbags.

He

Helium

Helium (He) is used to test radiator heat exchangers and torque converters to ensure that they are leak free. Helium can be mixed with argon to improve shielding gas characteristics for laser welding and aid in the production of air bags. Helium is also a crucial element in high pressure gas quenching commonly used with low pressure carburizing to minimize distortion in critical components.

H2

Hydrogen

Hydrogen (H2) is a component of a heat-treating atmosphere. Hydrogen reacts with oxygen to produce a bright finish on steel parts. It is also used as a quench gas for high pressure gas quenching because of its high heat transfer properties, either alone or as a part of a mix. When used as an alternative fuel, hydrogen plays a key role in reducing undesirable emissions.

N2

Nitrogen

Nitrogen (N2) is used for processes like tire curing, autoclave inerting and heat treating for many different applications in the automotive industry. It is also used as an assist gas for laser cutting and plasma-cutting processes. It is also used to shrink fit engines and transmission parts. Nitrogen is also used to manufacture electric components for seats, stereo systems, brakes and air conditioning systems.

O2

Oxygen

Oxygen (O2) is used in foundries that make automotive coatings as a plasma cutting gas, an assist gas for laser cutting, and added in small quantities to shielding gases.
