M&J Steel: Welder Repair Increases Output

M&J Steel, a long-time nexAir partner, is a leading fabricator and erector of structural steel based in Trussville, AL. Managing commercial and industrial projects, the company has worked with organizations such as Volkswagen, Disney, and Wyndham on sites nationwide.

Supplying its plasma consumables from nexAir for the past six years, M&J reached out to its Territory Manager in August 2024 when the company needed to increase its output due to market growth. It was considering purchasing four new welders to meet the new demand. Instead of quoting new equipment on the spot, the Territory Manager first suggested bringing a nexAir Repair Specialist onsite to examine four welders M&J already owned that were considered inoperable due to a power source issue.

After the analysis, the Repair Specialist found that the machines only needed new wire feeders, cables, and accessories as the power supply was still in good working condition. Since M&J was already acquainted with and liked those welders, it decided to go forward with the repair.

Adding to the twelve welders in operation, the restored machines gave its team the extra manpower it needed for the new business growth. Additionally, the company saved $40,000 by opting for this solution. The Territory Manager explains, “nexAir is not here to just sell you a product.
