Nucor-Yamato Optimizes Tracking with Advanced Cylinder Management

Nucor-Yamato Steel Company, based in Blytheville, AR, is home to the largest structural steel mill in the western hemisphere. Capable of producing over 2.5 million tons of American-made steel per year, it is a national leader in its industry.  For nearly 30 years, nexAir has supplied the company with hardgoods such as welding wire, hoses, and safety equipment. Through the relationship built over the decades, nexAir recently transitioned to Nucor-Yamato’s trusted cylinder gas advisor.

Before the switch to nexAir, Nucor-Yamato was in search of a more effective way to track their cylinders and manage their supply. Understanding the company’s operations, the nexAir Territory Manager suggested the implementation of Advanced Cylinder Management (ACM) – a branch of nexAir’s nexTrack technologies, which utilizes barcodes to allow customers to digitally track and manage cylinders within their facilities. The company agreed that this system would benefit their operations by providing enhanced inventory forecasting and more transparency into its cylinder balances. Ultimately, Nucor-Yamato officially named nexAir as their primary cylinder gas provider.

With a smooth transition conducted by the nexAir team, all the cylinders were delivered in just half a day.
