Serving customers since 1983, Taylor Manufacturing is a full-service machining and metal fabrication company located in Stevenson, AL that produces parts for large original equipment manufacturers. The company has relied on nexAir for argon, CO2, and plasma consumables for nearly a decade.
Last summer, the nexAir Territory Manager worked closely with the Taylor Manufacturing team to improve workflow and reduce costs. Through this process, the team identified a wire change and cylinder optimization strategy that would not only lead to cost savings but also free up valuable floor space. Additionally, the nexAir Productivity Team surveyed Taylor’s systems for leaks, discovering several opportunities for repair that would lead to further annual savings.
Once the cylinder and repair solutions were in place, Taylor Manufacturing turned its attention to gas supply. The Territory Manager recommended upgrading to a bulk system – a 9,000gal nitrogen tank, trifecta system, and 1,500gal oxygen tank – allowing for greater storage capacity and a buffer against supply chain disruptions. As a result, deliveries dropped from three times a week to three times a month, reducing costs and creating a safer, less congested facility. The local Territory Manager explained, “Enhancing the gas system at Taylor was a prime example of diligence and teamwork between nexAir and our partners. From Productivity to Sales, we came up with some creative ways to help the Taylor team make the transition. It was a great win!”
On September 23, the new tanks were officially installed at Taylor Manufacturing’s site. Today, its team and the nexAir Territory Manager continue to optimize operations and create further efficiencies. A Taylor Manufacturing team member stated, “After upgrading to a bulk tank system, our deliveries have declined substantially, and we are expecting to see significant cost savings going forward. The collaboration on planning and contracting was excellent, leading to a great installation.”
