Promatex – a long-time customer of nexAir – is a versatile manufacturing company headquartered in Georgia that produces golf carts and UTV parts. For the past several years, the Promatex team has been interested in automation; however, their limited shop space presented a challenge for incorporating a traditional robotic welding cell. With recent growth opportunities, it proved necessary to relieve the highly skilled welding team from mundane tasks that could be accomplished in a simpler fashion; this opportunity paved the way for an introduction to automation.
As a rapidly growing company amidst the increasing welder shortage, nexAir wanted to find a system that would effortlessly fit into Promatex’s production process while meeting its modernization goals. This is when the nexAir Territory Manager suggested demoing their parts on a cobot, a space saving automation solution. With booming business keeping the company engaged in various projects, the team was unable to attend one of nexAir’s live demonstrations at the Birmingham, AL branch demo lab. Instead, the Territory Manager arranged for a to meet Promatex on-site so that the team could visualize how the system would function within its specific processes. After assessing various options, everyone agreed that a Lincoln cobot would bring the most benefit to their team. Since implementing the recommended system, Promatex has witnessed remarkable success including a reduction in pressure on human labor and increased productivity.
Now – being in production daily – the cobot has substantially increased productivity and weld consistency, positioning the company for further growth. With our twenty plus year relationship, we have become well versed in the company’s business needs, allowing for our team’s expert knowledge to seamlessly aid in Promatex’s success. As stated by the nexAir Territory Manager, “I’m grateful for the trust Promatex has placed in our team to support its business over the time we’ve worked together. I look forward to strengthening this relationship between our teams and continuing to provide the company with our industry expertise for many more years.”
